Transportable ammunition destruction system
In collaboration with Caldo.com
The Transportable ammunition destruction system (TRADS) is a stand alone system requiring no local infrastructure other than a flat area to place the system. The system requires only the minimum of technical personnel and can operate in all weather conditions and areas of the world. The destruction process handles all ammunition up to and including 14.5mm.
Each system is designed to the individual requirements of the client in either trailer mounted or container formats.
The equipment is based on trusted methods for the destruction of small arms ammunition and uses the latest ceramic filtration technology to control emissions to atmosphere.
Ammunition is fed at a controlled rate from a ground level feed hopper into the heated rotating stainless steel cylinder. The rounds 'cook off' as they progress along the cylinder and the resulting scrap is deposited into a safe container. The gases are drawn from the cylinder through an afterburner and a ceramic filter by a variable speed fan.
The afterburner destroys the Volatile Organic Compounds while reactants added to the gas stream remove acid and Nitrous Oxides from the gases.

Finally the ceramic filter removes the solids from the gas stream where the cleaned gas is expelled to the atmosphere via the stack.
The system is competitively priced and operating costs are low to give a very attractive overall cost of ownership requiring the minimum of technical personnel to operate the system. TRADS is a new system to undertake the growing problem of surplus small arms ammunition worldwide and is designed to be user friendly as well as environmentally friendly. Once the system has been used to solve a surplus ammunition problem it can simply and easily be moved on to the next.
